The SUNSET SKY 8 is a revolutionary new instrument which is unique in its field in more ways than one. In true keeping with the design philosophy of Sky Guitars this guitar is designed to match the extended range of creative freedom of electric Sky Guitars and translate this concept to the realm of semi-acoustic hollow body classical/flamenco guitars. This is a virtuoso guitar which challenges the player to explore sheer unlimited new possibilities. Not only the addition of the eight string – a bass string which Uli tunes in several very interesting ways – but also the extended upper range AND the onboard effects section with a looper make this guitar something truly extraordinary and genuinely new. It is designed to bring the warm and magical sound of a classical nylon string guitar to the big stage in a completely new way.
It does this in three ways. Not only does this revolutionary guitar offer an increased top range – which comes naturally with being a Sky Guitar – but it also comes with a powerful inbuilt effects section, which consists of a delay and a high fidelity looper, which can record and play back or layer takes of up to 10 minutes of your playing one to one.
This is more than just a very nice toy. It opens up endless new creative possibilities.
The very effective onboard delay is easy to dial in and gives unrecedented artistic control over the ambience. Having a high quality delay like that built into the guitar makes a huge difference in real terms, because every onstage environment is different – many are too dry, in fact, and having this effect at your fingertips can be a life saver on some stages, where it is almost impossible to generate a nice and pleasant sound.
The overall tonal quality of the guitar is stunning, particularly once it is amplified. This is the purpose it was built for – to take artistic command of the stage and to achieve a high quality tone at the same time without having to battle the feedback problems which plague microphones and conventional piezo systems in acoustic hollow body guitars.
Conventional systems have always been prone to massive feedback problems, particularly in band environments where the individual player has much less control over the required volume. SUNSET ELITE Sky Guitars are designed to put an end to that once and for all.
Being a Sky Guitar, the SUNSET ELITE 8 naturally offers a greater range of notes than traditional guitars. In the case of the 8 String – which offers two additional bass strings – this opens up a whole new range of chordal and harmonic possibilities, particularly when using alternate tunings for the bass strings. Uli has experimented with that a lot and has found amazing new combinations. This is more than just an interesting novelty – this is a whole new kind of guitar, which opens up totally new vistas of creativity and exploration for the serious and dedicated musician.
